Vale Susan Deuchar.

On Dec 10 in 2018 we lost Susan in a tragic car accident on the Anthony Road near Mt Murchison. She was the first to join our group when we started in May 2017.

Her eyes and hands didn't always cooperate but she had a go at all workshops and always brought the cake! She loved the social aspect of our group and felt right at home. We held a morning tea and raised a glass of bubbly in her memory at out January meeting. Her daughter graciously joined us on the day. A brave gesture, it can't have been easy for her. Susan's death is a reminder to us all to be safe on our challenging west coast roads. We miss our friend.

In November we held a needle felting workshop under the watchful eye of Stratie. We all made butterflies and it was a lot of fun except when we broke the needles! I (Renate) broke 2 and Mardie broke a spectacular 4! Three of us attended Merle Smith's Spin Day at her lovely property on Table Cape near Wynyard. We thank her for her hospitality and the lovely welcome we received.

Some of us will be going to Ulverstone Open Day and I have warned the ladies about the magnificent spread of food they always provide each year. You have to see it to believe it.

In February we will fire up the dye pots for a bit of Natural Dyeing as some of the group have never done this before. In March most of us will travel to Bothwell. In April we intend a needle felting workshop to make little animals. The Tutor will be a new member of the group, Billie Lee Martin.

A busy time ahead,

Renate.
