Tamar Valley Spinners Terrific “T” Party – October 24th 2015

We all had a great time with our guests at our 7th Birthday celebrations. Lots of prizes were generously donated by members and also by a visiting MP Eric Hutchinson.

Our guests were given a little “T” tag of knitted blue handspun yarn made by group members to put on their spinning wheels.

Quite a few people dressed in “T” Inspired clothing; ties, teabag earrings, tee shirts, teddy tops, tartan, top-hat, tiara and 2 tigers. Kath Currie went all out and wore tartan ties on her thongs, tights, Tartan skirt with a tea towel tucked into her tummy, torn tee shirt, tie and topped off with a tea cosy!

Our special Guest was Jan Alderdice, a Tunisian Teacher who managed to inspire quite a few people to give “tuninsian a try” with her gentle nature and expert knowledge. Participants were given a bamboo Tunisian hook to take home.

Show and tell was also “T” inspired with 2 tiny thylacines, 2 Teddies, weaving with a tile pattern, a trove of tea towels and lots of other lovely items made by guests and our girls.

There were Trade Tables selling a variety of items including our Yarn Store with Louise presiding, Cheryl Mathews goodies, fleeces, buttons, cottons, eggs and free Takeaway Trees (Cordata for dyeing) complements of Robyn Cox.

Our door prize was a set of towels embroidered with spinning wheels, (by Susan Uncle), won by Joyce Clarke.

Our lunch was preceded by Glenda’s special grace and lots of yummy food was enjoyed by all.

The candle on our cake was lit by an October Birthday girl, Margaret Jones, and all October birthday people were invited to step forward and join in. The cake was cut by Rachel, our newest spinner.

A lovely sunny day, good company, good food, what could be better?

thank you Glenda for the words and photos.
